Captain George Ricks, Get-Away Fishing Charters
Hopedale/Delacroix, LA

Captain George Ricks is technically not a resident of Louisiana, which is why he wasn't recruited by BP to work on oil spill cleanup like other boat captains in the region. As a result of the oil spill George has lost about 70% of his business
We noticed Captain George as were driving down a stretch of road in Hopedale, Louisiana.  The boats that lined the side of the road were deserted except the one that George was washing down.

Update from George, December, 2010:
I am back working, although business is still way off from what it should be. We had a rough time when Ken Feinberg first took over payments of BP funds to those of us who were affected, but they finally came around and compensated us fairly well. Now, we have to convince people from out of state that all is well, and we are back.

Thankfully, so far, our fishery seems like it's okay, but we wont know the impact for sure until next spawning season in the spring. I appreciate your continued concern.
